Zeal Credit Union's rebrand was built to give the organization a clearer, more ownable identity — one centered on Hard Working Americans, the core of their membership base. Three brand traits — Passion, Empathy, and Character — were identified as qualities members valued most in their own lives, and each was woven into the visual system in some form across every piece of stationery, reinforcing the brand from the inside out. The Zeal name and mark introduced a bold, energetic, human identity, while an interlocking "e" and "a" in the logo kept a subtle tie back to the credit union's history.
As a lead designer on the brand and part of the team behind its environmental design, the work extended past print into a real-world experience: in 2017, Zeal opened a 55,000-square-foot headquarters in Livonia bringing together more than 150 employees, along with a connected flagship branch that carried the same brand presence to members. Large-scale graphics, dimensional features, and digital displays for rotating promotional content made the identity felt the moment someone walked in.
Carrying the same identity consistently across internal and external touchpoints — stationery, HQ environment, and flagship branch alike — helped strengthen member engagement and brand recognition for Zeal, unifying a message that had previously been fragmented across different pieces of the organization.
